Loving the beach

One of the most difficult parts to living in AZ, for me, is the sheer size of the city.  I grew up in the Yukon....in a town of 20K people....moved to the East Coast for university to a town of 5000.  Phoenix is the 6th largest metro area in the US.

Even though there are mountains "in town", and lakes within a short drive, I still feel a huge void of nature.  Maybe it's the lack of green, or the lack of real moving water....I'm not exactly sure really. Either way, I can tell you that I don't like to be "land locked".  I need some large body of water nearby....lake or ocean, doesn't really matter...just some form of blue water surrounded by some trees.

With PEI being a relatively small island, the beach is not far from anything...my parents are less than 30 minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  The North shore is a little more rugged being wide open to the Atlantic....the South shore is a little warmer and more sheltered since it's fairly close to New Brunswick and sits on the Northumberland Strait.

For Jake and I's last day on the island, we soaked up a wonderful afternoon at the beach...having lunch, flying kites, digging in the sand, and running through the surf.

It's where I feel the most peace.....the most comfortable.

It feels like home.

I'm so thankful we have this as our "vacation" spot.  I can't wait until we are able to make it our permanent home....I know it will be many years before that happens, but just knowing that my little family loves it as much as I do is enough :-)
