31 days of RAOKs: Day 1

Welcome to Almond Place!

So here we are...October 1st. My favorite month in my favorite season. This month, I am writing about a Random Act of Kindness I do each day as well as encouraging you to join in the fun!  When I told my husband about this idea, he said "It's kind of self-agrandizing to write about all the good things you do...doesn't that defeat the purpose?!" So, well...point taken but that's not my purpose. My purpose is to inspire others to do the same and to hopefully help restore some faith in humanity by showing others how simple it can be to do....It's NOT to hear how great I am ;-)...now excuse me while I go cross the Hubs off my RAOK recipient list. <just kidding!>

Today's Random Act of Kindness was an easy one and cost me $4.25.  I stopped at my favorite coffee joint and slowly pulled into the drive thru hoping someone would soon be behind me.

It took a couple minutes so I had a nice chat with Miss Kennady and explained what I was doing. Luckily a "regular" pulled in not long after I got there and they jumped out to grab Doug's order. They gave me the low down on Doug...he comes in everyday and orders a medium hot chocolate with whip cream and chocolate syrup. He also cares for his elderly mother who was so little I could just barely see her head of gray hair in the front passenger window!

Anyhow, I had a fun chat with Miss Kennady and was happy that Doug behind me got his Dutch Bros fix for free! Who doesn't love a little surprise like that?! The best part was that I was able to make a quick getaway and he'll never know who it was :-)

Tomorrow's prompt:

An encouraging note to a stranger.

So, did you get a chance for a little RAOK today? Leave a comment and let us know!

  1. I did not get to do a RAOK today but you have inspired me. I think your husband might need a RAOK too! LOL

  2. love it! I didn't do a RAOK yesterday :-( but I intend to do one today :) Also, I miss you & we really need to get together soon--as soon as this darn pink eye is out of my house :(

  3. I had to do mine today because we live on a farm. I grabbed a chai latte' after getting groceries but there was no one behind me. I left the money for the cashier to apply to the next order. She understood exactly what I wanted to do! And I have no clue who I treated but that's a good thing. Looking forward to the next prompt! And glad everyone's okay at your house.

    1. Awesome, Crystal! Glad you were able to treat someone today!
