RAOK Day 28

Welcome back to Almond Place! I am so excited for the Random Act of Kindness today because it's a really fun giveaway!

Today's prompt was for a blog reader. That means YOU!!

A few weeks ago, I decided to try out Stitch Fix. It's something I've seen around online and on Instagram for a couple of months and I decided to take the plunge.

In case this is the first time you are hearing about Stitch Fix, basically it's a styling service where they send you "a fix" of 5 items that are tailored to you based on your online profile. A stylist selects these 5 items...you have 3 days to try them out and then either purchase or send them back. You can purchase as little or as much as you'd like.  There is a $20 styling fee that counts towards a purchase...if you send it all back, you lose your $...but if you purchase all 5 items, you get 25% off your entire purchase! The best part is that there are no membership fees and no obligation to order ever...you get it when you want it!!

I was super excited to receive my first fix and was thrilled when a lovely teal box showed up on my door.

Inside were my instructions, a note from my stylist and my lovely pieces.

A lovely houndstooth skirt! This is the only piece that didn't quite fit right and that's because I still have a little baby pudge around my middle...it was kind of like a jersey knit material and very unforgiving. Loved it though...

Each piece came with a styling card that gave you 2 outfit ideas...I LOVE THIS...I often have a hard time with a style vision so for someone like me, this is a LIFESAVER.

I adored this blouse and cardi but they are exactly what I would've bought myself if I had gone to the mall shopping.  I decided that I would use Stitch Fix to help break me out of my comfort zone a little.

Cute earrings! They coordinated well with all of the pieces in the set.

This last piece is the one I ended up keeping and I've worn it 3 times already! It is not something I would have normally picked for myself but I absolutely love it and I get a ton of compliments on it.

So all in all, I only ended up keeping 1 thing from the fix. This was in large part due to my current budget...the top I kept cost me $48. I already had the initial $20 invested in the fix and ponied up another $28 to keep it.  Had I purchased the entire fix it would've totalled approximately $150 which includes my $20 credit and the additional discount for a complete purchase. Within 3 days, I had tried everything on and had it shipped back to Stitch Fix in their prepaid envelope.

Here I am wearing the top just this past weekend at a formal charity night.

So here's the giveaway...

I've got a $20 Stitch Fix Gift Card for someone in the US...right now they only ship within the US.

You've got to leave a comment with your name and city here on the blog. Please pass it on to friends...the more the merrier! The giveaway will end on November 3rd at 5pm Central time at which point I will randomly select a winner. Winner will be announced on Monday, November 4th.

Want to try Stitch Fix without waiting to see if you've won? Check it out here: Stitch Fix: Mandy

Give Stitch Fix a shot...I think you'll love it as much as I do!

Tomorrow's prompt:  Someone who is least likely to expect it.

Hi Mandy! Love your random acts of kindness posts -- such a great idea, especially during this time of year! I actually found your blog because I was looking through people's recent stitch fix hashtags on Instagram (I've recently become obsessed with stitch fix and was browsing through to see what other people have received!) I had my first box delivered last month and I kept 3 of the items. My next one comes in Nov. and I've been anxiously counting down the days! I really love how it helps choose clothes out of your comfort zone and gives you ideas on what to pair with each of the pieces. My last box included a full outfit they chose -- skinny jeans, peplum shirt and necklace, which were the 3 pieces I kept. Such a simple, yet brilliant idea. Who knew getting a box in the mail could be SO exciting?!?
