RAOK Day 8

Welcome to Almond Place! This month, I'm celebrating 31 days of Random Acts of Kindness.  The first week has been really fun!

Today's prompt was a RAOK for your neighbor.  We live in a huge city where many many many people keep mostly to themselves when they get back into their homes.  I've been on a quest to get to know our neighbors in this house as well as our last house because I think it is so important to know who you are living with!  It can truly make or break your experience in enjoying your neighborhood.  Plus, you never know when you might need one of them!

Our current living situation is such that we are surrounded by 39 other condos. It sounds like a lot but again, there are many who although friendly, choose to keep to themselves.  There are several who I've never seen at the pool or in the courtyard and have only said hello to in passing.

Thankfully, I have an equally chatty kiddo and within a week of moving in here, Andrew knew every single neighbor that would give him the time of day! As it turns out, 2 families are regular parishioners at our church, 3 of the others had grand kids at our preschool, 1 family is Canadian and their kid goes to the school I teach at and several others have mutual friends of ours. It actually was pretty crazy to make all the connections we did once we all put 2 and 2 together!

So, I've got bigger plans for the community closer to Halloween, but tonight I got the boys involved and we made a batch of cookies for one family.  I also had a little fall banner made up for them.  We set it up, rang the bell and dashed behind the wall!....bummer they weren't home! But I'm excited to know they will have a yummy surprise and a new piece of fall decor waiting for them when they get home.

This is the banner I made using some of the American Crafts Halloween line from Target.  If you haven't picked up some of their stuff yet, hurry!! It's awesome and so easy to use!!

The boys were so excited to tiptoe and whisper to their house!

How about you? Did you do anything nice for a neighbor today?

Here's tomorrow's prompt: an old friend...interpret that however you wish ;-). Be sure to click on over to Day 6-part 2 to enter to win the pumpkin frame!

Have a great day!
