Throwback Thursday: The Proposal

It was about 8 years when the Hubs suggested on a spur of the moment that we head to the Grand Canyon.....if you actually know my husband, you know he's very well put together...not exactly Mr. Spontaneity. We took off that same night making the 4 hour trip late into the night and I had a feeling he was up to something....we literally got the LAST hotel room in that tiny town.

Hating surprises....the next morning while he was in the shower, I searched through his stuff looking for a ring.  Awful, I KNOW!  But I really hate surprises!  I came up empty handed.

We spent ALL day hiking around the rim, stopping in scenic secluded spots to admire the view, checking out the restaurants and gift shops....and not even a hint of a proposal.  Trust me when I say I was about to lose it when we started to drive out the east entrance!

We made one last stop just before the watch tower on the east side and took a nap in the car knowing we had a long drive back.  We quickly admired the view, let the dog stretch her legs and started to head back when all of a sudden, there he was....on one knee, with a beautiful ring.

I don't remember much of what he said except for "Would you do me a favor?" and "Marry me?"
It couldn't have been more romantic or perfect.  It took all day, but it was so worth it!

So thankful for this little life we've built together!  Can't wait to take the kiddos to "our" spot.

P.S. Seriously loved my blond hair....sigh. one day again.
