National Brush Day: $100 Amazon Gift Card giveaway!

Did you know there was a National Brush Day?!  Me, neither. Ha!

I've teamed up with a few other bloggers to shed some light on National Brush Day and to offer a giveaway...who doesn't love free money?!

We as parents, have so many responsibilities.  One of them is of course teaching our kids proper dental hygiene.  This is fresh on our minds after Grace had to have dental surgery this summer. The Hubs and I have tried our very best to make this a priority but we often still fall short.  Our kids have a variety of "genes" when it comes to the quality of their teeth.  Andrew and Grace take after me...not so good...and Jacob has Jim's teeth of steel.

We've had our challenges with their teeth.  Andrew has had a few fillings, Jacob is cavity free and Grace had to have 4 of her top front teeth replaced with crowns. We brush their teeth equally and have never sent them to bed with milk or juice...just clarifying for anyone who's getting ready to send me hate mail for neglecting my kids' oral hygiene!

Since Grace's surgery this summer, we've stepped up our game a bit more with some added brushings and let's face it, some gimmicks to make this more fun for everyone!

There are so many great resources at 2 MIN 2X including 2 mins long videos: Watch HERE  We can play these on the ipad while they brush.

We bought light up toothbrushes that help make sure they brush for longer. They LOVE the Gum Light Saber Toothbrushes

We are also signed up for the 2min2x daily text challenge. 75% of kids forget to brush their teeth and let's face it, with the morning rush of trying to get 3 kids out the door, we parents can easily forget about it too!

Sign up and you'll receive 2 texts a day for 5 days to help bring your kids into that 25% of healthy brushers!!  Click HERE to sign up!

They also have a fun Toothsavers app that you can download on the site as well.  I'm looking forward to using this with our kiddos.

Now...here's the fun part.  The GIVEAWAY!

  1. Great post, recently we had to buy training toothpaste for my 2 year old and luckily it had Thomas the Tank Engine on it and we let him pick it out, and we let him pick out his own toothbrush. He now will at least to attempt to brush his teeth but only accepts minimal help- it's better than before though as previously we couldn't get him too. Praise God for some success. I entered!

    1. Good luck! I hope you win the gift card! Yes, letting the kids pick out their own toothbrushes has been a definite game changer! Anything star wars is what's going for our house right now :-)

  2. I don't have kids. But I remember back in the day the dentist coming to school and giving us those tablets with dye that you chewed after you brushed to see where you missed. I don't know if they still do that or not. I wish my parents had been a lot better with the dental hygiene with me as a child. Would have saved a lot of pain & money later on!

    1. I totally remember those!! I have no idea if they still use those...I bet they've found some random direct link to gum cancer or something like that with using them :-) I definitely need to focus more on flossing for myself and getting to the dentist more often...I go at least once a year but I think i'm more on an 8-10 month cycle instead of every 6 months. I'm much more careful with the kids since their teeth are so young!

  3. I used to have them sing the Happy Birthday song while brushing...they would always have fun with it and sing it in different voices over and over and would usually be laughing by the time they were done.

    1. That's a great idea as well! I struggle to find ways to make this a fun activity for them. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. The tricks I do are let them choose a fun, colorful toothbrush and their own paste to go with it, then we have a singing timer that we turn on to count while brushing, and I always brush with my daughter and help her so as to get all the sugar bugs as we call them..LOL I think if you make brushing fun they will want to do it each day after their meals..Thank you for a fantastic Giveaway and Hope you have a wonderful day.

  5. I love the Sugar Bugs idea! That's fantastic! Thanks so much for stopping by!
